QuickBooks

Scott Cook and Tom Proulx founded Intuit in 1983.  They started with a program called Quicken.  With the success of Quicken, Intuit began creating more tools for business owners. QuickBooks is accounting software that was developed by Intuit.  Intuit has developed QuickBooks over the years to include web-based features, remote access capabilities, remote payroll assistance, electronic payment functions, online banking and reconciliation. A new venture for Intuit was QuickBooks Point of Sale software.  This POS system acts as a cash register of sorts and can track inventory, sales, customer information, and create sales reports. Recently QuickBooks began offering online subscriptions.  This requires a fee and uses cloud technology.  As of May, 2014, QuickBooks Online was the global leader in online accounting software, with 624,000 subscribers.
