2010, January 29/30 Snow!

We made it through the night without loss of electric power.  The snow is amazing.  It is hard to say “how much” since the wind whipped it all about last night.  Probably about 9 to 10 inches total but less in places / more in places.  It is freezing rain now and that is packing the snow down.   Yesterday we made the normal “Bad Weather” Plan:   put water in all the water containers, buckets of water in bathrooms,  extra water for animals, firewood in basement, checked candle supply, checked oil lamp, charged up the flashlights.  Mostly, we do not have to do too much since we are always “prepared” anyway.  So, we were able to just enjoy the day watching movies, reading, playing online games, I did a bit of crochet and worked on old photos.  We will try to get out today if the sleet stops.  Otherwise, too dangerous right now.  We hope to get out late Sunday and get Patrick back to Asheville since he has class Monday.

I will close with:

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep and miles to go before I sleep.”
